Mabalacat City Studies the DSWD Knowledge Exchange Center in Benchmarking Visit

The Mabalacat City - City Population, Gender and Development Office, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Department of Social Welfare and Development Knowledge Exchange Center (KEC) on 09 February, 2023 with the purpose of establishing their own gender and development focused knowledge management facility. 

DSWD Registers as a Book Publisher with NBDB

The Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIDB) initiated the registration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as a Book Publisher for both digital and printed materials. The registration which was received by the representatives of the Department on 6 February 2023, will remain effective until 30 June 2024. This is a milestone for DSWD to be recognized as an author of books on social welfare and development contributing to nation building.

SWIDB Jumpstarts DSWD Electronic Learning Management System (ELMS)

The Electronic Learning Management System (ELMS) is a project that has been proposed by the Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIDB) since 2016. After seven years of pursuing this project, the Bureau has finally completed the ELMS in 2022. The ELMS was developed to provide an alternative mode of training for DSWD internal staff, partners and intermediaries, and to harmonize the learning and development initiatives across all the DSWD offices, bureaus and services (OBS) and Field Offices.

SWIDB Leads Sharing on Social Protection with 800 Social Welfare and Development Stakeholders

The Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIDB) conducted its annual Knowledge Fair for Local Social Welfare and Development Officers (LSWDOs) from the 26th to the 27th of October 2022 via Zoom and Youtube Livestream. Eight hundred (800) social workers were given the opportunity to actively engage in the Knowledge Fair which serves as a venue for the sharing of practices, strategies and initiatives amongst the various offices in DSWD and SWD partners in order to promote the replication of exemplary practices.

4th Philippine Social Worker’s Day: Strengthening the Social Work Professions

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in partnership with the ASEAN Social Work Consortium-Philippines (ASWC-Ph) led the celebration of the Filipino Social Worker’s Day on 19 June 2022 with the theme “Resilient Filipino Social Workers: Moving Toward the  New Socio-Economic, Political, Cultural and Environmental Challenges”. About 516 participants joined the celebration to recognize the indispensable role of social workers and their invaluable contribution to nation-building, especially in the implementation of the social protection initiatives of the government.

2022 DSWD Knowledge Fair for Internal Staff: Introducing Intellectual Property Concepts for Knowledge Security

To establish a leveled-off understanding of the relevance and applicability of the republic Act 8293 or Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines and the IP system in the government setting,  the Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIDB), through its Knowledge Management Division, conducted the 2022 Knowledge Fair: Learning Sessions on Intellectual Property on 11-13 May 2022 participated by 141 staff from the Central Office and Field Offices. 

The DSWD KM Portal is a dynamic facility founded to promote the development and sharing of knowledge within the DSWD and its partners. The Portal has vast collection of DSWD Knowledge Products (KPs) and other learning resources on social welfare and social protection.
