Dialogue with Social Work Students: Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice

As part of its commitment to strengthening and promoting the social work profession in the Philippines, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Social Welfare Institutional Bureau (SWIDB) successfully held a significant event entitled “Dialogue with Social Work Students”, at the University of Cebu, Banilad, Cebu City last 24 January 2025 with almost five hundred (500) social work students actively participating both online and onsite.

The DSWD FO 1 successfully conducted its annual Knowledge Fair at Hotel Ariana in Bauang, La Union on 12 December 2024. This event brought together local government units (LGUs), social welfare development agencies (SWDAs), and various offices, divisions, units, and sections (ODSUs) from the Field Office to showcase their initiatives that have positively impacted different sectors, social service delivery, and community development. The fair was led by Regional Director Marie Angela S. Gopalan, along with the Executive Committee and Ms. Norilix M.

DSWD Academy Hosts Knowledge-Sharing Session for USC-JPIA Students

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Academy recently concluded a dynamic two-day knowledge-sharing session with  150 third and fourth-year accounting students and faculty from the University of San Carlos-Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA)  last 9 and 10 January 2024 at the DSWD Auditorium. The event provided participants with an invaluable opportunity to observe and engage with the accounting systems of one of the country’s largest government agencies, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world business operations.

Report for the Batch 2 Post Graduate Diploma Course on Child Protection Cum Case Management

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its partnership with UNICEF and Miriam College facilitated the enrollment of 50 scholars from the DSWD, National Authority for Child Care (NACC), and Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) for the second batch of the Post Graduate Diploma on Child Protection cum Case Management (PGDCPCM). The PGDCPCM aims to strengthen the competencies of the social service workforce on implementing child protection in the context of the social welfare system.
