The Office of the Vice President of the Philippines (OVP) conducted a benchmarking visit at the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Knowledge Exchange Center (KEC) on the 25th of May 2023. The OVP studied the Department’s practices and initiatives in relation to Knowledge Management.

The benchmarking visit was the OVP’s second visit to the Department to delve into the initiatives practiced to institutionalize knowledge management in the different offices. Some of the initiatives shared by the Department are the management of the Knowledge Management team focal persons in the offices and the use of online knowledge sharing platforms such as the Knowledge Management Portal and the DSWD Electronic Learning Management System (ELMS). The sharing highlighted the importance of setting up structural capital to include development and cascading of policies, organizational structure integrating KM Teams and its functions in the Office Performance Contract, promoting organizational culture and KM Champion that will support KM.

With their insights from the benchmarking visit, the Office of the Vice President hopes to strengthen their knowledge management system and guidelines within their organization. Knowledge sharing initiatives play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient delivery of services and gives the organization vital tools in decision making.

The DSWD KM Portal is a dynamic facility founded to promote the development and sharing of knowledge within the DSWD and its partners. The Portal has vast collection of DSWD Knowledge Products (KPs) and other learning resources on social welfare and social protection.
