The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) - through its professional learning institute the DSWD Academy, has recently concluded the first batch in a series of training on Case Management. The course “Training on Social Work Case Management: Enhancing Working with Individuals” was held from 19 - 23 June 2023 at the Social Welfare and Development Center for Asia and the Pacific (SWADCAP) with 31 social workers from the local government units (LGUs) nationwide. The next two batches for the year will be conducted on 17-21 July 2023 and 14-18 August 2023 to be participated by the social workers from the Centers/Residential Care Facilities of DSWD and selected LGUs.
Social work case management is considered to be the foundation of the social work practice. It is concerned with the restoration and rehabilitation of socially impaired individuals. The training aims to reinforce the foundational knowledge, skills and attitudes as social workers with their actual experiences. Strengthening competencies on case management will contribute to improving the level of service delivery of the LGUs.
The first day of the training coincided with the celebration of the Filipino Social Workers Day, a day that recognizes the importance of social workers and their contributions towards nation-building.
The DSWD Academy is the Department’s concrete response to its commitment to provide technical assistance and resource augmentation to its partner stakeholders such as the local government units, civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-government organizations (NGOs). The academy will be launched at the latter part of the year.
