The Mabalacat City - City Population, Gender and Development Office, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Department of Social Welfare and Development Knowledge Exchange Center (KEC) on 09 February, 2023 with the purpose of establishing their own gender and development focused knowledge management facility. 

The benchmarking visit was conducted to help in the establishment of Mabalacat City’s Gender and Development - Knowledge Management Center (GAD-KMC). Mabalacat City, which has been a consistent awardee of the Philippine Commission on Women’s GADtimpala Award, and are looking for ways to further enhance their city’s gender and development initiatives. They want to learn from the Department’s KEC since the facility supports the acquisition of knowledge in regards to social development and protection. 

In addition to an introduction to the Knowledge Exchange Center’s facilities, the representatives from Mabalacat City were also given an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the Department’s knowledge management mechanisms such as the good practice documentations - one of which their own LGU’s good practice on the delivery of social welfare and development programs and services during the pandemic has been featured. An introduction to two of the Department’s knowledge management systems, the Knowledge Management Portal and the DSWD Electronic Learning Management System was also featured in the visit. The benchmarking visit was finished with a short tour around the KEC facilities.

The DSWD KM Portal is a dynamic facility founded to promote the development and sharing of knowledge within the DSWD and its partners. The Portal has vast collection of DSWD Knowledge Products (KPs) and other learning resources on social welfare and social protection.
