The Financial Education Learning Sessions, Demonstration, and Writeshop for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was conducted on 12-14 February 2025 at the Belamy House, Makati City with 15 participants from the DSWD. This activity was an initiative through the partnership with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Banco De Oro Foundation that aims to enhance financial literacy and empower both DSWD personnel and beneficiaries. Through these activities, participants are equipped with key financial knowledge and practical tools to make informed decisions about budgeting, saving, investing, and managing debt.
The activity had 2 parts - (1) Simulation of Financial Education Session, and (2) Planning and Module Development. Part 1 introduced gamified activities and lecture discussion. Part 2 was dedicated to develop the roadmap and develop the customized Instructional Design. DSWD personnel collaborated with experts to construct modules that fit the requirements of vulnerable populations and make the materials relevant and customized to the DSWD context.
With this partnership, BDO Foundation, BSP and DSWD, are collectively promoting a financially educated and empowered citizenry, which will lead to long-term economic security for marginalized segments
