A total of 79 Social Welfare Assistants/ Paraprofessionals and Social Workers coming from local government units, non-government organizations and DSWD Field Offices attended the Certificate Course on Basic Social Welfare Concepts, a training under the DSWD Academy. This was conducted on 7-11 October 2024 at the VCDU Prince Hotel, Butuan City with participants coming from Region IX, X, XI, XII, and Caraga. The training aims to enable the participants to demonstrate knowledge, values and skills reflective of the social welfare and social protection context to be able to provide more appropriate support to the social workers in their function.

This course was realised through the partnership with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) with valuable resource persons; Professor Maria-Lourdes Turalde-Jarabe, Professor Finaflor Taylan and Professor Lloyd Lyndel Simporios.

The DSWD KM Portal is a dynamic facility founded to promote the development and sharing of knowledge within the DSWD and its partners. The Portal has vast collection of DSWD Knowledge Products (KPs) and other learning resources on social welfare and social protection.
